Master of Science in Biology

Qualifying Graduates and Researchers Able for Keeping up the Developments in Biological Sciences in Line With the Requirements of the Labor Market and Sustainable Development.

Admission Requirements (male and female students available)
  • The applicant’s bachelor’s average should not be less than 3.5 out of 5, or its equivalent.
  • Passing the supplementary courses specified by the scientific department for non-graduates of the Faculty of Science at the university.
  • Passing one of the English language tests specified below with a score of no less than: -TOEFL-IBT: 45 points -STEP: 67 -IELTS: 4.
Graduation Requirements
  • The student should complete thirty-two study units.
  • The student submits a thesis project which is equivalent to six units of study.
  • The master's thesis should be written in English, provided with an adequate abstract written in Arabic language.

Learning Outcomes (Knowledge)

K1. Knowledge of basic concepts, theories, principles, biological scientific terminology, and biological functions of organisms and their classification.
K2. Describe the relationship between cells, tissues, and organs, as well as biochemical and physiological functions.
K3. Understanding environmental factors and their impact on biodiversity and ecosystems.
K4. Knowledge of modern biological applications and techniques used in biological diagnosis of normal and abnormal vital functions.

S1. Apply the appropriate scientific methods and techniques to collect and handle samples.
S2. Interpret and evaluate the results of biological experiments and field studies using statistical methods, analysis of primary data, and problem solving.
S3. Ability to understand; critique and compare scientific papers as well as to prepare and publish distinguished research in biology.
