Master of Science in Financial Mathematics

Enhance the use of mathematical and statistical methods in formulating the best business and economic strategies, to help companies, build appropriate financial strategies, to predict the financial risks related to the assets

Admission Requirements

1. Obtaining a bachelor’s degree in the required specializations (statistics - business administration - mathematics - physics - computer science - engineering) from a Saudi university or a recognized university.
2. Obtaining at least a grade of "C" in the bachelor degree.
3. Obtaining a score of no less than 4 in the IELTS test or its equivalent in other international tests.
4.     If the number of applicants exceeds the expected number, the following mechanism will be applied in admission to fill the available seats:
a) 60% of the GPA for the bachelor’s degree.
b) 40% of the IELTS score or its equivalent from other international tests mentioned in the table above.

Graduation requirements

1. Passing 36 hours in 13 compulsory courses with a grade of at least "C+" in each course.
2. Passing 9 hours in 3 elective courses with a grade of at least "C+" in each course.
3. The cumulative GPA should not be less than 3.75 upon completing each level.
4. Completing a scientific research project for graduation according to the department’s model and discussing it in front of a discussion committee determined by the department’s Graduate Studies Committee.

1- Promote applied research particularly that is related to requirements of the kingdom in finance industry.

2- Produce world-class graduates with a broad-based and global outlook able to work both within the kingdom and beyond.                                                                                                                                             

3- Provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical methods and skills needed to begin or enhance careers as quantitative analysts in the financial industry.                                                                                           

4- Train graduates with an adequate understanding of the financial markets, creating, evaluating, and using appropriate models and able to work in:                                                                                                                    

- Portfolio management and security analysis                                                                                                                    

- Hedge funds                                                                                                                    

- Risk management                                                                                                                    

- Trading of securities and derivatives trading                                                                                                                    

- Corporate finance and corporate restructurings                                                                                                                  

- Venture capital and private equity                                                                                                                    

 

5- Raise the efficiency of those enrolled in financial positions in the public and private sectors by developing their skills in using mathematical methods in solving problems within the business and finance sectors.
