مجموعة أبحاث الحفز تقوم بالبحث في مجال الحفز غیر المتجانس. ویركز البحث في المجموعة أساسا على تحضیر المحفزات غیر المتجانسة الجدیدة ذات الفعالیة العالیة والمستقرة باستخدام التقنیات المتطورة مثل صول-جیل، والترسیب، والانحلال الحراري اللھبي، والتشریب، والتطعیم، و / أو تقنیة الترسیب. ویتم تقییم الأداء الحفاز للمحفزات. المحضرة في العدید من التطبیقات التحفیزیة مثل تحویلات البتروكیماویات ، ومكافحة التلوث البیئي، والطاقة المتجددة والتحویلات الكیمیائیة الخضراء.
الرؤیة: "الحفز: تقنیة مفتاحیة للاستدامة في الطاقة وانتاج الكیمیاویات وحمایة البیئة".

الاهداف
1- انتاج بحوث عالیة الجودة في مجال الحفز غیر المتجانس بما یجذب تعاونا بین المجموعة وبین الشركات ذات العلاقة.
2- نشر مقالات علمیة متمیزة في الدوریات ذات التأثیر العالي مع فرص لبراءات الاختراع.
3- نقل المعرفة والخبرة التجریبیة إلى الباحثین الشباب، من خلال توفیر فرص بحثیة لطلاب مقرر الحركیة والحفز في مرحلة البكالوریوس وكذلك لطلاب وطالبات الدراسات العلیا.
4- التعاون مع علماء وباحثین من نفس التخصصفي جمیع أنحاء العالم لتحقیق المنفعة المتبادلة.
5- نقل التكنولوجیا الحدیثة في مجال الحفز إلى جامعة الملك خالد.

1- Synthesis and development of catalysts that are used in the petroleum and petrochemical industries, including: A- Selective oxidation such as that of cyclohexane B- Hydrogenation such as the reaction of desulfurization by hydrogenation of various fuel compounds C- Catalytic cracking, such as breaking down naphtha into light olefins D- Converting heptane into trimethylpentane E- Converting alkanes into aromatic compounds 2- Synthesis and development of catalysts operating in and from renewable energy A- Reducing carbon dioxide and converting it to methane or methyl alcohol B- The catalytic cracking of sulfur dioxide to obtain hydrogen 3- The creation and development of catalysts that work in the field of reducing environmental pollution and from it A- catalytic cracking of unburned hydrocarbons in cars B- The complete catalytic conversion of the various nitrogen oxides compounds
